Worksop Indoor Golf Centre is a real all-rounder, and a great find for golfers in north Nottinghamshire. Alongside four simulator bays you will find a generous putting green, a bunker for short-game practice, darts lanes, laser simulator shooting and a licensed bar, so it works just as well for a serious practice session as for a sociable evening out.
The bays use Foresight launch monitors. Bay 1 has an overhead GC Hawk, which means left- and right-handed golfers can play side by side without swapping anything around, and its cameras make it a good bay for lessons. The other three bays use the GC3, and Bays 3 and 4 can be opened into one larger space for a bigger group. Each bay has seating, somewhere to put your bag, sports TV and a charging point. You can play famous courses such as St Andrews and Pebble Beach, or just a few favourite holes.
The putting green deserves a special mention. It covers about 80 square metres, and part of it tilts, so you can practise uphill and downhill putts, something most of us never get to work on indoors.
Pricing is per person and gets kinder the more of you there are, from £16 for a single player down to £8.50 each for a group of four or more. A four-ball round takes around three hours. The bottle bar serves lagers, craft ales, wine and spirits, with hot drinks and soft drinks too.
For those who like a competition, there is a Winter League with official handicaps, and members enjoy a monthly medal and longest-drive contests. PGA professionals offer lessons and custom fitting.
